The Blessing Moon

Last Friday was the full moon in Aquarius (which is my sun sign). In the Almanac it was called the “Blessing Moon.”

As you know from my last blog, I was a speaker on my first summit that night, too. It was a hit and I am so grateful to all of you that showed up to support me. When I was finished, I had that sensation I used to get after a performance. It felt like, "Ok, I just jumped that big hurdle, now what do I do with myself?"

Have you ever felt that way?

A dear friend invited me to her roof top in Harlem for moon gazing. I thought it was a perfect way to end the day. So, off I went and braved the subway for the first time since Lock Down. Although I must admit to feeling uneasy, I'm happy to report that everyone was masked and socially distanced on the A train.

When we got to the roof, I was amazed at how clear the night was and how the moon was glowing in the sky. When she began to disappear behind a tall apartment building, I got nervous and feared that she would hide her face for the entire evening. I breathed and reminded myself that the world was turning, so in a moment she would reappear.

How many times have I experienced what seemed like lack of abundance or love and reassured myself, that this too shall pass? It is only a disappearing act or a trick of the eye. The abundance or love is always there, just like the moon. All I need to do is breathe and remember that the world keeps turning, and soon my perspective will change.

In the light of that Blessing Moon, my friend and I shared our fears and frustrations. We poured them out into the sky and emptied our minds and hearts. Then we prayed, sang, chanted and drew the light of the Blessing Moon into our hearts, minds and bodies. We allowed the Blessings, falling from heaven, that are always there, to balance and brighten our souls.

Today, as I write, I send light and blessings to each of you. I invite you to breathe and focus on the light within and all around you. Watch it grow and illuminate whatever you are doing today. Send blessings to all you touch and those you meet. If this seems like a challenge today, just breathe and gently remind yourself that the world keeps turning and soon your perspective will change.
